Since its debut last year, the Google Assistant has become more conversational, more helpful, and available on even more devices, including Nest. And over that time, we’ve been working closely with Google to create new ways to control your Nest products with the Google Assistant.

You can already ask your Assistant on Google Home to change the temperature on your Nest Thermostat. But that’s just the beginning. This winter, you’ll be able to talk to your Google Assistant right from your Nest Cam IQ indoor camera. And today, we’re announcing three new integrations between Google and Nest products that will be available soon to help make keeping your family safe and secure easier than ever before.

First, you’ll be able to see what’s happening at home, using just your voice. Say, “Ok Google, show me my backyard,” and you can use your Google Assistant speaker to stream live footage from your Nest Cams to your Chromecast.

Your Google Home will also be able to help you get out the door when your hands are full, thanks to the introduction of routines. Just say, “Ok Google, I’m leaving” to turn on your Nest Cams, turn down your Nest Thermostat, and turn off the lights. Eventually you’ll be able to arm your Nest Secure alarm system as well, with a single voice command.

And finally, if you have the Nest Hello video doorbell (coming in early 2018) with a Nest Aware subscription, it can automatically broadcast to the Google Home devices in your house to tell you who’s at the door.*

Look out for these and other integrations later this winter, available via free software updates, as Google and Nest continue to work together to make home even more connected.

*The familiar face alerts feature is not available on Nest Cams used in Illinois.
